The Have Nots - Serf City USA

About This Blog (Click)

Oh my, this is one of my personal favorite street punk and ska releases of the year and it's already up for free.  This is a real treat that will be loved by fans of everything from Rancid to the Bosstones.  Don't hesitate, download this one immediately (it is only up for a week), it's a killer summer album, been listening to it for months and it still hasn't gotten old.

Lorenzo's Music - Three Albums

About This Blog (Click)

Lorenzo's Music is one of those odd little creations you find and just don't quite know how to describe.  My best attempt would be to say that they feel like a rock and jazz version of cabaret punkers The World/Inferno Friendship Society.  In other words, they have a lively, genre-crossing feel that I'd imagine would make for one helluva live show.  To top it off, Lorenzo's Music has three fantastic album, each a little different than the last, my personal favourite being their self titled EP.  Check 'em out.

Pheramones - Split with Amelia

About This Blog (Click)

I hate it when people say things I want to say before I say them, but I guess that's why academia invented quotes: "This is the new project from Steve of the Sidekicks and Pat of Shout Out Loud Prints. I've loved everything that these two have done in the past, and this is no exception."  In other words, The Sidekicks rock, and by extension so does the Pheramones.  Gruff pop-punkers need not hesitate.  (note, this split only includes the Pheramones tracks)

Slingshot - Demo #3

About This Blog (Click)

As the album description notes, Slingshot Dakota "are some sort of Mates of State tribute" - but not really.  Personally I think the keyboard and male/female vocal sound makes them feel like a rougher version of Lemuria.  Whatever the case, it's a nice little three song demo that bodes well for Slingshot Dakota's future.

Vietnam Werewolf - Ohio's City

About This Blog (Click)

Holy crap, I remember trying to get my hands on Vietnam Werewolf's self released debut back in 2008 when it first came out.  Punknews.org gave it a stellar four star review and I just couldn't ignore it.  Vietnam Werewolf is for fans of those gruff, messy, Hot Water Music inspired bands that I just can't seem to get enough of.  You could get this one for 10 bucks over at iTunes, or just grab it from those good folks at ifyoumakeit.

Anti-Clockwise - Love Bomb Baby

About This Blog (Click)

Anti-Clockwise play some pretty hard melodic punk-rock.  I'm not really sure what else to say other than that the recording and track quality of this Portugal-based four-piece are right up there with stuff I've bought in the past.  Releases like these bode well for the Creative Commons movement.  Highly recommended for those who like their punk with aggression and politics.
