Farmer's Boulevard - Three Albums

About This Band (Click)

I don't post a lot of thrashcore on here mostly because it's not something I find myself listening to much, and I imagine that most of my "regulars" on here probably don't either (just based on the comments I've read).  However, with German group Farmers Boulevard I'll make an exception, if only because I think at least one of their free albums is rather accessible.  "Still Four" is the one of which I speak, and throughout it the band flirts with melody very admirably.  The other two should probably have an extreme intensity disclaimer on them, but hey, if you like that type of thing, go for it!

I reviewed this album a while back - fairly favourably I might add - but now it's available for free download via the label's site.  Rather than go on about it, I'll simply link you to my review.

The Ruined - The Best Of The Ruined

About This Blog (Click)

Now for something a little harder.  I absolutely love UK horrorpunk group The Ruined.  They've got a fast and ragged, to-hell-and-back intensity that's a pretty rare find these days.  Back in 2006 they released Hear Lies, and fans like myself kept waiting for something new and substantial.  A few minor splits and compilation tracks were reported, but nothing was available for the average internet goer.  In any case, the band has opted to upload an eight track compilation of all that hard to find stuff, as well as some of their personal favourites from Hear Lies.  You'll find it below.  I cannot recommend it enough.

Josh Woodward - Breadcrumbs

About This Blog (Click)

Josh Woodward isn't any sort of punk, but he's such a solid acoustic and folky songwriter it would seem stuck up to let this one pass this blog by.  Breadcrumbs is his latest album, and it's without question his most admirable work yet - and I say that with full acknowledgment of his stellar back catalogue.  Lofty acoustic melodies and soothing vocals make for a great album.  It's an injustice to compare Woodward to acts like Dashboard Confessional, but for simplicity sake that's just what I'll do.

Grown Ups - Songs

About This Blog (Click)

Grown Ups is a remarkably energetic fusion of ambience and punk.  Combining the twinkly melodies of bands like Castevet with the rough vocals of those found in groups like Snowing paid off in spades.  Does this triumph deserve a donation?  You decide.

Kudrow - Lando

About This Blog (Click)

Here's some great gruff pop-punk with an emphasis on catchyness and fuzz.  It's a brief EP, but certainly worth giving a spin.  And don't worry, the band won't starve since as with all ifyoumake it releases, you can always donate if you like what you hear.

Greenland Is Melting - Our Hearts Are Gold, Our Grass Is Blue

About This Blog (Click)

Greenland Is Melting is a nice little folk group out of Gainesville.  Lots of fiery acoustic passion, harmonicas, and all that good stuff.
