Josh Woodward - Discography

About This Blog (Click)

When we last saw Josh Woodward he was posting in the comment section of this very blog.  Well, I rooted around his website recently and came to appreciate the vast array of free album Mr. Woodward has up for download.  So if you liked his 2008 double disc, The Simple Life, the I highly recommend giving his back catalogue a spin.  Each one has a wonderful balance of acoustic, indie, and folk influences.

Motorcycle Industry (The) - Electric Education

About This Blog (Click)

I quite like this find.  I've always enjoyed the sound of Say Anything's lead vocalist Max Bemis.  The guy just sounds like he's always on the verge of a mental breakdown.  Now mix Max Bemis-inspired vocals with a dash of acoustic folk-punk and you get The Motorcycle Industry.  It's a wonderful combination that completely caught me off guard.  When a debut full length delivers like this, I beg the question, who needs labels?

Asteria - Self Titled EP

About This Blog (Click)

Asteria's EP marks the release of the latest absolutepunk.net free EP.  This one sounds a little like Fall Out Boy, and sounds pretty middle of the road.  If you like this kind of pop-punk then Asteria's self titled EP is right up your alley.

Bottle Rocket - Demo + 1

About This Blog (Click)

Look at that!  Another mid-week update! My oh my, checking my blog on "off" days has really begun paying off for you! ;)

Don't be fooled by the fact that this is a demo.  The recording quality of this "Demo" is as good as any independently released punk album.  Bottle Rocket play an intense, gruff New York city hardcore brand of street punk.  It's right up my alley, and I love it.

Mike Hale - Lives Like These

About This Blog (Click)

Mike Hale was and is part of now defunct punk rock band Gunmoll as well as the alive and well rock band In The Red.  All of his work in various genres is always up to an extremely high quality, making Mike Hale one of the most well rounded musicians I can think of.  But not only is he an amazing musician in a band, but he's also one of the best solo acoustic artists in recent memory.  Lives Like These is his second solo outing, and damn, is it ever great.  Thankfully, with a little persuasion from Suburban Home Records management, Hale agreed to release his new album for free, with the hopes that those who love the album will donate through the website.  Download it now and get it before the April 28th street date!

Northbrook - Maybe

About This Blog (Click)

Oh, what's that, a Wednesday update you say?  Fancy that, lucky you...  This is a punk-pop/emo band with members from over at absolutepunk.net.  They sound like early 00's groups that wouldn't have sounded out of place on Drive Thru Records several years back.  Lucky for you, growing up in a culture of free music has caused these boys to release their debut album, three years in the works, for no monetary return.  Get those megabytes moving!

Red & Blue - Acceptance, Confusion and Triumph

About This Album (Click)

For today's second album we have some pretty catchy pop-punk with a little but of that 80's vibe thing going on.  It's a good EP that's easy to get into and worth staying around for each track.  Originally released in 2007, now it's free to you thanks to our friends over at ifyoumakeit.com

Reverse the Curse - Paths EP

About This Blog (Click)

One of the latest releases from ifyoumakeit.com is a sloppy but technically sound EP from a trio out of Hiram, OH.  It's a great little EP and shows great promise for the band's future.
